Rack Zinc Plating

Rack Zinc Plating is the electrolytic deposition of pure zinc metal on conductive base metals, usually steel and cast iron. The zinc plating is applied anywhere from .0002”-.001” thick depending on customer requirements. After plating a chromate film is applied to enhance corrosion resistance and provide a cosmetic finish. Rack zinc plating is used for larger or delicate pieces that cannot be bulked processed in a plating barrel. Precision sheet metal, irrigation parts, automotive, stampings are some examples of pieces that use Rack Zinc as an alternative to powder coating or wet paint.
