Rack Zinc Plating

Rack Zinc Plating is the electrolytic deposition of pure zinc metal on conductive base metals, usually steel and cast iron. The plating is applied anywhere from .0002”-.001” thick depending on customer requirements. After plating a chromate film is applied to enhance corrosion resistance and provide a cosmetic finish. Rack zinc plating is used for larger or delicate pieces that cannot be bulked processed in a plating barrel. Precision sheet metal, irrigation parts, automotive, stampings are some examples of pieces that use Rack Zinc as an alternative to powder coating or wet paint.
